High above the surrounding plains, this mist-shrouded and forest-clad mountain refuge is one of Queensland’s most ecologically diverse parks with 860 plant species and a wonderful variety of wildlife. From Mackay, drive 80km west along the Mackay–Eungella Road to Eungella Township. At the head of the valley, the road winds sharply and steeply up the larke Range — not recommended for caravans.

The Forest Flying eco-tourism experience is set up to allow you to view the rainforest of Finch Hatton Gorge from a unique angle. Using the Flying Fox – an overhead cable and pulley system up to 25 metres above ground – you will be travelling 350 metres through the rainforest canopy.
Forest Flying takes you into the tree tops for an educational and interesting, up close view of the pristine rainforest of Finch Hatton Gorge.
Your personal harness/pulley glides along the cable for a serene and educational outing all with minimal disruption to the habitat. You have total control of the speed at which you travel along the cable.

It is the world’s largest coal export port and is comprised of two separate coal export terminals, Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal (leased from the Queensland Government by Prime Infrastructure Trust) and the Hay Point Services Coal Terminal (owned and operated by BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance). PCQ is the relevant port authority.
