Eungella National Park
High above the surrounding plains, this mist-shrouded and forest-clad mountain refuge is one of Queensland’s most ecologically diverse parks with 860 plant species and a wonderful variety of wildlife. From Mackay, drive 80km west along the Mackay–Eungella Road to Eungella Township. At the head of the valley, the road winds sharply and steeply up the larke Range — not recommended for caravans.
Mackay Canelands Central
Only 35 minutes drive is Canelands Central. It is the largest shopping centre in the Mackay region and is conveniently located in the city centre and has been servicing the local region since 1974.It offers the widest variety of stores and services and over 230 stores together with Myer, Target, Big W, Woolworths, Coles, JB Hi Fi and Best & Less.
Sarina Sugar Shed
Using authentic miniature sugar processing machinery that has been sourced from all over the world This working miniature sugar-processing mill and distillery is the only one of its kind in Australia! Using the Flying Fox – an overhead cable and pulley system up to 25 metres above ground – you will be travelling 350 metres through the rainforest canopy.Forest Flying takes you into the tree tops for an educational and interesting, up close view of the pristine rainforest of Finch Hatton Gorge.
Hay Point Port & Coal Terminal
Located just a short 15 minutes drive is The Port of Hay Point. It is the world’s largest coal export port and is comprised of two separate coal export terminals, Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal (leased from the Queensland Government by Prime Infrastructure Trust) and the Hay Point Services Coal Terminal (owned and operated by BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance). PCQ is the relevant port authority.
